Pinouhio was the first Disney feature to utilize animator models, or "maquettes". In addition to multiple poses for the main characters like Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket and Geppetto, the Stromboli reproduced for this edition is one of several known variations of color schemes for his costume. The Character Model Department also created working puppets, vehicles, and clocks. These figurines proved to be so popular that Walt Disney occasionally used them as gifts to YIPs and they were sometimes used as decor in studio offices.
