Giclée - A computerized reproduction technique in which the image and topography are generated from a digital file and printed by a special ink jet printer, using ink, acrylic or oil paints. Giclée printing offers one of the highest degree of accuracy and richness of color available in any reproduction techniques
Lithography - Printing technique using a planographic process in which prints are pulled on a special press from a flat stone or metal surface that has been chemically sensitized so that ink sticks only to the design areas and is repelled by the non-image areas. Lithography was invented in 1798 in Germany by Alois Senefelder.
Serigraphy (Silk-screen) - A printing technique that makes use of a squeegee to force ink directly onto a piece of paper or canvas through a stencil creating an image on a screen of silk or other fine fabric with an impermeable substance. Serigraphy differs from most other printing in that its color areas are paint films rather than printing ink stains.

Artist's Proof (AP) - Print intended for the artist's personal use. It is common practice to reserve approximately ten percent of an edition as artist's proofs, although this figure can be higher. The artist's proof is sometimes referred to by its French épreuve d'artist (abbreviation E.A.). Artist's proofs can be distinguished by the abbreviation AP or E.A., commonly on the lower left of the work.
“Gallery wrapped” is a way of finishing a canvas artwork so it’s ready to hang without needing an additional frame. The canvas is stretched tightly over thick wooden stretcher bars, and the edges of the canvas are wrapped around the sides and stapled on the back.
Stretched - When a canvas is described as stretched, it means the artwork has been pulled tightly over a wooden frame (called stretcher bars) and secured on the back. This process keeps the canvas flat and smooth, ready to hang on the wall or to be placed inside an outer frame.
Hand Embellished - When an artwork is hand embellished, the artist (or a skilled studio artisan) personally adds paint, texture, or other details by hand on top of the printed or finished piece. This gives each artwork unique highlights and depth, making no two pieces exactly alike — even within the same edition.

Embracing the romantic architecture of Disneyï`s timeless royal tales, Collectors Editions is pleased to present this fine art series which lovingly showcases the combined artistic talents of the legendary Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw. Each piece in these black paper limited editions is carefully hand created using our proprietary technique called Chiarography."
The Chiarograph is a fusion of traditional printmaking and the latest digital technology. The characteristic of the Chiarograph medium is unique: while each one has a pattern or part of an image that is repeated, the individual hand painting preparation results in a one of a kind print. Thus, no two prints are identical. The beauty of this media is also in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking and painting.
Each piece in these black paper limited editions is carefully hand created using a proprietary technique called Chiarography (pronounced keer-ography) which requires an intensive amount of hand preparation and attention. First, each sheet of 485 gram, archival, acid-free black paper undergoes multiple hand brushed basecoats of various medias, which will become the printed area. This hand application of basecoats create the brush stroke texture behind the printed image and ensures each piece in the edition is unique, as no two pieces will ever have the same hand painted undercoat.
Using archival, pigmented inks, the chiarograph printing process identifies the undercoat and prints only on the hand painted area thereby applying the artwork over the texture, and out to the edges of the brushwork. This creates a uniquely organic and whimsical effect to the outer border of each image. Each work of art is then hand-embellished by Harrison Ellenshaw before undergoing three separate coats of hand applied varnish which not only provides UV protection to the image, but results in a luminous sheen to the finish. Finally, Harrison Ellenshaw creates a hand drawn illustration of a film icon specifically for each collection.
Under supervision of Harrison Ellenshaw, these elegant collaborations are signed with Peter Ellenshawï`s official estate signature and personally hand signed by Harrison Ellenshaw, before they are individually hand numbered and approved for sale to the public.

Introducing the Collaborative Art of Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw. As a visual effects designer and filmmaker, Harrison Ellenshaw's work can be seen in such films as STAR WARS, TRON, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, CAPTAIN EO, DICK TRACY, and many others. He has also had a successful career as an artist with one-man shows of his paintings in London, New York, and San Francisco. Peter Ellenshaw has received five Academy Award® nominations, winning the Oscar® for his stunning recreation of Edwardian London in the Walt Disney's classic, Mary Poppins. Throughout the years, Ellenshaw has sought to capture the drama and emotions of many different scenes. His work is represented in both public and private collections worldwide. He has received numerous honors and retrospectives including those by the American Film Institute, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Film Institute of Chicago, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the R.W. Norton Art Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana and has been bestowed the illustrious title of "Disney Legend." In their first creative collaboration since Disney's, "The Black Hole" (1979), Peter & Harrison Ellenshaw came together to create "We can Fly". Their first in a series of collaborative works celebrated the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney's, "Peter Pan". Their second piece was "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," which according to Harrison, "was my introduction to Hollywood, at least to the Disney style of epic movie making. This was an exciting time, seeing my father involved in one of Walt Disney's most successful live action films."
