Villa di Mare, 2001
$2,175.00
A sunlit terrace and a riot of Mediterranean color greet you like a remembered holiday. The painting’s foreground is alive with thick, garden-rich brushwork—clusters of white blooms, purple and red shrubs, and golden foliage—that lead naturally to the balustrade and a small café shaded by white umbrellas. Beyond, terracotta-roofed houses climb a green hillside, their warm oranges and creams set against the deep cobalt bay. The sea shimmers in layered blues and aquamarines, dotted with sailboats that give the scene a gentle sense of movement and leisure. Hallam’s palette feels celebratory: vivid yet balanced, with cool distant hills in mauve and teal that push the bright village forward. Overall it reads as a moment of easy pleasure—sun, convivial company, and an expansive view that both excites and soothes the eye—perfect for anyone wanting a cheerful, luminous centerpiece in a room.
