Villa di Mare, 2001
$2,175.00
You can feel the warmth of sun and sea in this vivid coastal lookout. A terraced foreground of flowering shrubs and palms leads to a sunlit balustrade and a small café where figures sit beneath umbrellas — a moment of easy company set against a sweeping bay. Kerry Hallam’s palette here is exuberant: saturated blues for the water and distant hills, punctuated by terracotta rooftops and bright floral reds, purples, and whites that give the scene a festive, Mediterranean air. The brushlike serigraph marks create a lively surface, suggesting flickers of light on water and the textured incline of the hillside village. Altogether the image reads as both a promise of relaxed afternoons and a celebration of color and light — a view that feels instantly familiar and quietly uplifting.

It summons an image of a place that stirs the senses and wakes the spirit. The lush foliage, sun-drenched setting, and peaceful aura suggest a place where the pace is unhurried and the living is easy. Hallam's bold use of color and light is vivid and fantastic, yet creates a vision in your mind's eye that makes you believe that the place is exactly the way you had imagined it to be.
