Villa di Mare, 2001
$2,175.00
A sunlit terrace full of small pleasures is the first thing you notice: bright umbrellas, clustered tables and the easy movement of people enjoying a seaside view. Hallam uses saturated blues for the sea and sky that make the distant coastline feel almost jewel-like, while warm ochres and rose tones anchor the foreground buildings and flower beds. The left side’s stone stair and climbing bougainvillea give the composition a welcoming, lived-in quality—you can imagine stepping down from that shaded doorway into the bustle below. Figures are suggested with lively, economical strokes rather than fine detail, which keeps the scene airy and sociable rather than literal. Small touches—a cat curled on the steps, a woman strolling toward the cafe—add intimacy and everyday charm. Hang this where you want a burst of Mediterranean light and convivial energy; it brings color, warmth, and a relaxed holiday feeling into a room.
