Tremor, 1992
$395.00
A hush of midnight humor greets you in this small, perfectly realized scene. A gleaming brass horn, looped into a bright circle, rests against a low ridge while a soft, black rubber bulb lies to one side — except the horn is not sounding; it is singeing the air with a delicate plume of stardust. The deep, velvety blues of the sky and water make the gold of the instrument pop, and the tiny, glittering spray reads like a miniature galaxy caught mid-flight. Brennan’s knack for placing ordinary objects in unexpected roles is on full display: the familiar shapes feel both playful and slightly uncanny, as if a child’s toy has been granted a small, cosmic power. Intimate in scale yet expansive in imagination, the print charms with quiet wit and a precise, jewel-like palette that lingers like a pleasant, private secret.
The Artwork
"Stardust" is a lithograph created by Fanny Brennan in 2000. From the edition of 300, the artwork is initialed 'FMB' lower right and annotated lower left. The artwork is framed in a contemporary silver and dark gray frame and has a framed size of 15 x 15.75". The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each of Brennan's prints is a compact world of real and imaginary elements, playful and ambiguous, though completely enjoyable. "My intention is to depart entirely from the the customary view of miniature painting," notes the artist. "I do not paint mementos. Rather, by placing familiar objects in unfamiliar settings, I try to produce an image that will be remembered for its own sake."
