Tremor, 1992
$395.00
A small, nocturnal world unfolds in tight, deliberate detail—cool moonlight rides a narrow ribbon of reflection across a quiet sea while two rocky islets stand like silent gateposts. The scene feels quietly uncanny: the moon is positioned almost like a bright bead caught on a taut wire that connects the tall posts planted on each rock. That slender diagonal line gives the composition a surprising sense of balance and gentle tension, as if the ordinary landscape has been nudged into a playful, impossible arrangement. Fanny Brennan’s restrained palette of deep indigo and sea-glass highlights makes the water shimmer without loud gesture; delicate strokes trace the surface and model the rock faces with a subtle clarity. The work’s compact scale enhances its intimacy—viewers lean in to savor the small, self-contained oddity and the hush of a midnight hour that is both peaceful and slightly mysterious. It’s the kind of image that lingers, remembered for its clever twist on familiar things and the serene mood it creates.
