NOTES: Sage of Glory portrays the soldier who fights for freedom. He was not too old to labor as a slave nor so too old to fight for his freedom. Although though not as agile as the younger soldiers, he offers something that only comes from a lifetime of suffering and pain. He brings dignity, resilience, pride, honor, and wisdom. The shadowed background places the focus on his posture and is symbolic of the nadir of his past, dark and yet lingering. Nonetheless, he stands in the light, in his glory as a freeman.
