There’s an easy, good-humored glow to this scene—like the comfortable buzz you get around a campfire with people you love. Zac Kinkade fills the canvas with warm storytelling: Mickey, Minnie and the nephews clustered by the fire, Pluto bounding nearby, Daisy and Donald caught in lively motions, and Goofy doing his famously clumsy fishing. The composition reads like a memory come to life, with soft lamplight from the lodge and a sunset-tinted mountain range framing a sparkling waterfall and rainbow beyond. Image Notes “Disney's Mickey and Minnie’s Campsite Tales" pays homage to the tradition of camping with your family. Growing up, I enjoyed spending time with my family in the great outdoors, knowing an adventure was right around the corner. From hiking, to boating, to fishing, our days were spent in nature building core memories. In many ways, the true adventure for my family was, less tied to the out-of-doors, but the curveballs thrown our way from the result of being ill-prepared. Forgotten food, puddle-soaked sleeping bags, and the rumbles in the night from creatures covered by the darkness. In this painting, I’ve captured my family’s experience through Mickey's and Minnie's friends. Goofy is spotted fishing in a way only Goofy could, while some "bearly" visits of forest residents make an appearance. A nearby mountain lodge symbolizes comfort as the crew settles in for the night. As Donald and his nephews’ row to meet Daisy on shore, Mickey, Minnie, and his nephews begin the long-standing tradition of telling campfire stories while roasting marshmallows by a perfectly lit fire. Zachary Thomas Kinkade, Thomas Kinkade’s nephew, was born in 1991 and has been passionate about art his entire life. At the age of 11, Zachary began entering and winning art competitions and shows and has since gained regional, national and international recognition for his work.
Following in his uncle’s footsteps and in service of his own life as an artist, Zac attended the internationally known Art Center School of Design in Pasadena California. Zac has taken a position as a publishing artist for Art Brand Studios and is rapidly starting his own legacy with pencil and brush.
