The Gallery's Perspective
A joyous swarm of color greets you at first glance. Vibrant monarchs—bold orange wings edged in black—take center stage, but they’re only part of the story: smaller butterflies in turquoise, violet, white and patterned black-and-yellow pulse across a sky of soft blues and sunset pinks. The composition feels celebratory and layered, like a treasured collage where paper shapes, jewel-like accents and circular motifs mingle to create movement and depth. Light seems to bounce from the glossy details, giving many of the wings a lifted, three-dimensional presence against the wash of color behind them. There’s an optimistic, almost playful energy here—an impression of fluttering life and bright, tactile surfaces that can lift a room with color and cheer.

Image Notes When it comes to my approach to collage art, I tend to take a surreal approach. I find it more satisfying to let the viewer interpret the piece for themselves, rather than telling them what they should see. Take, for instance, my work, "Flight of the Butterflies." This piece was inspired by the Monarch butterflies that often hover around my pool area. Using a mixture of paper and glass butterflies with jewel accents, I created a vibrant and captivating mixed-media collage that perfectly captures the fluttering beauty of these delicate creatures. Each time you look at it, you may discover something new, as if the butterflies are taking flight right before your eyes.
