Night Room, 2000
$395.00
A small, private world opens at the center of this print—like peeking through a porthole into a gentler sky. The lithograph frames a bright, solitary hot-air balloon drifting above a calm sea and distant hills; its warm yellow and orange tones instantly lift the mood against a cool, twilight-blue surrounding. That contrast between the luminous interior scene and the darker outer waters gives the image a quietly theatrical quality, as if a memory or dream sits protected inside a weathered ring. The textured, slightly mottled handling of color feels intimate and meticulous, inviting a close look at the delicate gradations of sky and the soft ripples on the water. Playful yet thoughtful, the work balances whimsy with stillness—an image that lingers like a small, remembered journey rather than a literal story.
The Artwork
"Balloon Moon" is a lithograph created by Fanny Brennan in 2000. From the edition of 300, the artwork is initialed 'FMB' lower right and annotated lower left. The artwork is framed in a contemporary silver and dark gray frame and has a framed size of 14.5 x 15". The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each of Brennan's prints is a compact world of real and imaginary elements, playful and ambiguous, though completely enjoyable. "My intention is to depart entirely from the the customary view of miniature painting," notes the artist. "I do not paint mementos. Rather, by placing familiar objects in unfamiliar settings, I try to produce an image that will be remembered for its own sake." This work is published by Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts, an affiliate of Martin Lawrence Galleries, no prior ownership.
