Night Room, 2000
$395.00
There’s a quiet surprise in the picture’s gentle green hush: a stand of evergreen silhouettes rises from a soft, misted field, but two curled corners reveal different worlds beneath. The folding page at top left and bottom right reads like a playful stage prop—one corner peels back to a darker, clouded sky, the other to an arched colonnade beside a calm blue sea—so the familiar pine grove feels both real and invented. The cool, muted palette and the feathered edges of the distant trees give the scene its sense of morning hush, while the revealed fragments introduce a wry, imaginative tension between interior and exterior, interior thought and landscape. Small in scale and quietly detailed, the lithograph rewards a slow look: it feels intimate, like a private thought or a memory gently lifted to show what lies underneath. The Artwork
"Morning Mist" is a lithograph created by Fanny Brennan in 1992. From the edition of 300, the artwork is initialed 'FMB' lower right and annotated lower left. The image size is 3 x 3" and the artwork is framed in a contemporary silver and dark gray frame. The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each of Brennan's prints is a compact world of real and imaginary elements, playful and ambiguous, though completely enjoyable. "My intention is to depart entirely from the the customary view of miniature painting," notes the artist. "I do not paint mementos. Rather, by placing familiar objects in unfamiliar settings, I try to produce an image that will be remembered for its own sake." This work is published by Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts, an affiliate of Martin Lawrence Galleries, no prior ownership.
