The Gallery's Perspective
A hush of reverence and story settles over this composition—objects gathered like memories on a single table. You first notice the familiar, watchful presence of a bald eagle at left and, beneath it, the folded stars-and-stripes that anchors the scene. Around them the artist arranges symbols of American life and history: a model ship, a military jacket with ribbon, medals, a carved figure, and domestic items that feel lovingly handled rather than staged. The palette mixes warm golds and deep blues with muted olives and russet, giving the work a quiet, almost nostalgic glow. Brushwork suggests texture—soft feathers, worn fabric, gleaming wood—so each object reads as a story fragment. Rather than a headline image, the painting offers a reflective, layered tribute: pride tempered by humility, a sense of many voices and eras placed side by side. It rewards a slow look, letting small details—wear, shine, and gesture—speak to a larger sense of belonging and history.

Andy Thomas is not only an immensely talented painter, but also a storyteller with the images he creates. His subject matter consists of a variety of images from historical events to intimate moments of everyday life. The artist s desire to create is funneled into the area of painting realism that ranges from very loose to very tight. Thomas s medium is primarily oil, but he also works in watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, and ink wash. He is also a very accomplished sculptor.
