Jozza was born in 1958 in Hidrolandia, a small town located in central Brazil. His passion for art began when he was very young, and was inspired by his mother Maria who was an art teacher. He married very young at the age of 17, and subsequently found it was very difficult to attend art school due to the economic responsibility of raising a family.
Jozza’s interest turned to soccer, and he became a great player. He played for Atletico one of the best state teams. Soccer was one of the reasons that he moved to the United States. In 1986 he was invited to play for a Croatian Team in San Francisco, Ca. He lived there playing soccer and working in restaurants for 4 years after which he sold the business and returned to Brazil. During all this time he always wanted to apply his artistic gifts to making a living as an artist. He returned to the United States to pursue his true calling for art where he eventually met and began to work with and learn from artist Romero Britto.
In the year 2000 Jozza had his first exhibition, at Biscayne Tower I in downtown Miami, and he had a taste of what it was like to sell his first piece, and from that experience, he started to exhibit his artwork at different galleries. The first gallery who opened their doors for him was Gallery Art at Promenade Shop in Aventura FL.
After 11 years of success as a fine artist, Jozza’s work is being shown worldwide; you can even find it in the Hollywood movie, Transporter II directed by Louis Leterrier. Jozza creates his vision with vibrant imagery and combinations of hard edged and abstract humans. His paintings are inspired by the simple streets of Brazil, all the way to the elegant Cities of the United States; cities full of rhythm, people, nightclubs, subways and restaurants where urban life subjects the spectrum of society class. The shimmering animated colors are captured in over 1,000 works around the world. Jozza’s work is included in numerous public and private collections in United States, Brazil, Spain, and Germany.
“God with a simple touch created the universe, full of beauty, life and colors. He created mankind and through the lines, colors and circles of life go on searching for better days.” |
