NOTES: Rocky Mountain Meadow by Nancy Glazier ~ Rocky Mountain Meadow may well be Glazierβs finest elk painting to date. For years, Nancy has struggled with how to paint frost on an elkβs coat. It has been one of the few frustrations she faces with elk paintings. She was terribly excited when she stepped back from this piece to find that she had finally succeeded in creating frost on their coats in shaded spots and melted frost on the areas that are in the sunlight. In addition, she included nine elk in the painting β each one different from the rest, each with its own, unique personality!.

Always knowing she wanted to be an artist, Nancy Glazier's grandmother presented her with her first set of oil paints when she was eight. Her delighted father sold her first painting when she was twelve. Her family moved to Wyoming when she was sixteen. Glazier was introduced to Cody Museum muralist, Adolph Spohr, who singled her out for private instruction. Painting is the very breath of her life. While she is painting, Glazier feels complete, joyful, powerful and free. Today, the animals Glazier prefers to paint are truly wild and free. Elk, deer, moose, bear, cougar, coyote, fox, birds from osprey to pine siskin, share their territory with her in the mountains of the Northwest. "My paintings invite you into this world. Journey with me awhile. I will share with you what the eyes of my heart see."
