The Flight Attendant
$425.00
You can't help smiling at the exaggerated personalities packed into this diminutive fire truck. At half scale, Guillermo Forchino has turned a familiar emergency vehicle into a small comic drama: a squat, glossy-red chassis with lovingly roughed-up paint, a ladder lashed with rope, and coiled hoses that seem almost too large for the bed. The three caricatured firefighters read like members of an old vaudeville troupe — the driver grips the wheel with comic determination, a helmeted figure leans out the door with a sunburnt, good-humored scowl, and a third peeks over the rear tank with wide, startled eyes. Together they create a sense of motion and mild chaos, as if the truck has just skidded around a corner on its way to rescue a cantankerous cat. The piece’s playful scale and the artist’s warm attention to facial detail and props make it as much about character and story as about a vehicle. It’s the sort of object that brings a lighthearted, narrative presence to a shelf or mantel — a small, theatrical scene that rewards a second look and an easy laugh.
