The Gallery's Perspective
There's an easy, mischievous grin in this little figurine that makes you want to laugh aloud with it. Pecos Bill's exaggerated features—his wide, eager smile, tipped hat and jaunty wave—read immediately as playful and full of cowboy bravado, while the comically long-faced Widowmaker beneath him registers surprise and bemusement. The composition rides a tilt: Bill leans forward as if mid-gesture, the horse's flopped ears and slack jaw giving the scene a warm, cartoonish momentum that feels lifted straight from the original Melody Time short. Color is kept bright and friendly—sunny yellows, warm terracotta, and dusty browns—so the piece reads as both nostalgic and lively. Small details, from the suede reins to the platinum accents on the bridle and chaps, add a tactile richness without stealing the spotlight from the characters’ expressive poses. At roughly nine-and-a-half inches and built from many separately modeled segments, it has a sculptural presence that rewards a closer look while still communicating its humor from across a room. From the 1948 Disney classic cartoon "Melody Time", comes Pecos Bill and Widowmaker. This figurine captures the moment Pecos Bill lays eyes on Slue Foot Sue, as Widow maker realizes that he will have to share Bill.

WALT DISNEY CLASSICS FIGURINES - The Classics Collection started in 1992 with three scenes, Bambi, Cinderella, and Fantasia's Sorcerer Apprentice. Many other series have since been introduced. Some figurines are limited, and some have been retired. Some of these figurines have risen high on the secondary market.
The figurines are made of porcelain, and the process is similar to that use to make Hummel figurines. Individual pieces are molded, put together, and fired in an oven. Then they are painted and fired again.
Each figurine is marked on the bottom, signifying the year it was produced. The marks represent significant milestones in Disney history. The figurines with the first year mark are usually the most desirable.
