The Gallery's Perspective
A fierce tenderness anchors the scene: a mother strides through towering, wind-whipped water while cradling a small child against her chest. The painting’s muted aqua and storm-gray palette makes the warm, luminous figure in the distance feel like an answered call—soft light breaks through the clouds and bathes the mother’s profile, lending the moment a sense of reassurance amid chaos. Brushwork that suggests spray and motion keeps the sea alive and urgent, while the steady, protective hold of the mother reads as courage in action rather than posed heroism. There’s a quiet narrative here about trust and support—how a single human gesture can hold a child steady in a frightening place. As an image, it comforts without sentimentalizing, offering both drama and a calming center of light that lingers after you look away.

About Be Not Afraid Gallery Wrap
My wife is my hero. She has sacrificed so much of herself for each of our six kids. She relies on the Savior and shares her Testimony of His power with each of our Children, both with word and through example. To honor her I wanted to depict a heroic mother, supported by faith, guided by the Savior, through an impossible storm. A mother carries her child through an impossible storm, while the Lord supports and calls to her. Matthew 14: 24-31 Reproduced from the artist’s digital artwork created with Midjourney and Photoshop.
