When Pigs Fly, 2007
$595.00
There’s a wink of mischief in this quiet still life: a tuxedoed rabbit stands on hind legs, clutching a small hammer, while an ornate blue-and-white ginger jar sits calmly beside it. The scene balances gentle humor and refined detail — the jar’s delicate vine-and-petal decoration is rendered with exacting, porcelain-like precision, while the rabbit’s soft fur and alert upward gaze give it personality and intent. A warm, diffuse horizon behind them softens the composition and keeps the focus on the unlikely pairing, lending the image a storybook calm rather than chaos. The contrast between the jar’s cool, formal pattern and the rabbit’s tactile presence creates a pleasing, slightly absurd tension that makes you smile. This lithograph feels like a private joke executed with care — playful but visually elegant, with a domestic charm that lingers after you look away.
