The Gallery's Perspective
Three mirrored women caught in a private moment—bringing lipstick to her lips—create a theatrical pulse across this canvas. The repetition reads like a short filmstrip: each figure is nearly the same pose but bathed in different color notes, so the scene feels less like a single snapshot and more like shifting moods of the same person. The middle figure’s emerald and turquoise glow (the work’s namesake) cools the composition, while warmer oranges and reds at the edges add a sense of confidence and evening light. Textured washes and visible brushwork around the figures lend a tactile, almost stained-glass quality that suggests colored light moving over skin and fabric. About Rossetto: La Luce Verde
In the Rossetto series, we are witnessing a woman in the act of applying lipstick. In a nod to the great Warhol, Adamo uses repetition of imagery as well as color to create and alter mood. We are often left wondering if this indeed is the same woman, with three slightly different personalities. Do we know her? Perhaps. She is bathed in colored light almost as if through a stained glass window. Alas, she is a trio of forms, a complexity of character. The central figure is emerald and turquoise. Hence the title: Rossetto: La Luce Verde.

Pietro Adamo was born in Toronto, Canada in 1955. He enrolled in the Fine Art and Art History program at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. After graduation, he took a position teaching art at Chaminade College School in Toronto. While there, he helped establish a strong visual arts department, one which saw many of his students go on to become prominent architects, designers, illustrators and fine artists. During his two decades of teaching, Adamo continued to paint and executed several private and public commissions of his work.
The paintings of Adamo are a celebration of the artist s admiration for the unpredictable and inexhaustible record of life. He abandons the conventional renderings of geometric forms through his textured surfaces and rough contours.
Adamo draws influence from artists of all periods and from the world around him. Travel is an important source of inspiration, especially trips to Italy, his ancestral homeland. During these extended stays, Adamo is able to explore monumental art and architecture as well as the small details of the rural landscape.
Adamo s career as an artist has been a journey of continuous exploration and growth. His paper, wood and canvas have a constant audience. He also released a highly successful series of hand pulled prints and posters, as well as bas-relief sculptures. Today his works can be found in galleries worldwide.
