About Horse Sculpture. Matte black

Origami Horse. Geometry in motion. In this piece, we bring together two artistic languages: the ancient Japanese art of origami and the handcrafted tradition of porcelain. From that connection comes this matte black porcelain horse, modeled with faceted volumes that echo the language of folded paper. A contemporary reinterpretation of the animal world through geometry. The horse, a universal symbol of freedom, strength, and elegance, takes on a new form here refined, bold and expressive. We aimed to capture its movement mid-stride, with one leg lifted and its head held high, conveying energy and balance. The matte black finish emphasizes the edges of its anatomy, enhancing the play of light and shadow across its surface. Each piece is entirely handcrafted in our workshops in Valencia, where traditional porcelain-making techniques coexist with a focus on contemporary design. From the initial modeling to the kiln firing, this horse reflects our commitment to preserving artisanal expertise while exploring new creative directions.Horse is part of the Origami collection, a series of creations that reinterpret the animal world through abstraction, with an aesthetic inspired by graphic design and today’s visual languages.

Lladro was founded in 1953 when Juan, Jose, and Vicente, three brothers born of local farmers and endowed with great artistic talent, formed a small family company in the Valencian village of Almacera, Spain. Since then, Lladro has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm of international scope enjoying continual growth. The company management has remained in the hands of the Lladro family, the owners of the firm, since its inception. The creative team started out by adapting styles from past eras, but it was not long before certain characteristics appeared that would soon shape what was to become the unique Lladro style.
