Arion on A Seahorse. Limited edition sculpture of Arion with a sea horse in matte porcelain of various colors. Inspired by Greek mythology, this work is characterised by the serene beauty of Arion and the dynamic exuberance of the sea creature upon which he is riding: a beautiful example of counterpoint between sweetness and strength. Legend has it that the god Apollo created the constellation of the Dolphin in honour of Arion, who was saved from drowning by the creatures. The dolphin of the myth is here a fantastic sea horse, as recreated by the William-Adolphe Bouguereau painting, Arion on a Sea Horse. A High Porcelain limited edition full of dynamism and strength, with ornamentation dominated by the contrast between the whiteness of Arion´s skin and the rich colour scheme of the horse and its armour.

Lladro was founded in 1953 when Juan, Jose, and Vicente, three brothers born of local farmers and endowed with great artistic talent, formed a small family company in the Valencian village of Almacera, Spain. Since then, Lladro has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm of international scope enjoying continual growth. The company management has remained in the hands of the Lladro family, the owners of the firm, since its inception.
The creative team started out by adapting styles from past eras, but it was not long before certain characteristics appeared that would soon shape what was to become the unique Lladro style.
