There’s a charming immediacy to this little world — the bustle of a station platform captured in porcelain with affectionate detail. You can almost hear the whistle and feel the polite flurry as fourteen figures prepare to board: ladies with parasols and sweeping skirts, a jaunty driver, porters bent with trunks, an eager child and even a tiny dog padding between ankles. A Grand Adventure Train. Limited edition steam locomotive with wagon and figures holding handmade umbrellas in gloss finish porcelain. All on board! The whistle blows and the passengers are ready to embark on a exciting adventure. It is demanding challenge for the Lladró artists, who spent several years developing this technical and creative display. A total of 14 characters share a common space, set at the end of 19th century. Lavishly dressed ladies with beautiful hats and parasols; elegant gentlemen with refined manners; the contentment of the train driver and the conductor; porters carrying heavy luggage; enthusiastic children excited by the prospect of a special event and even a little dog.

Lladro was founded in 1953 when Juan, Jose, and Vicente, three brothers born of local farmers and endowed with great artistic talent, formed a small family company in the Valencian village of Almacera, Spain. Since then, Lladro has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm of international scope enjoying continual growth. The company management has remained in the hands of the Lladro family, the owners of the firm, since its inception.
The creative team started out by adapting styles from past eras, but it was not long before certain characteristics appeared that would soon shape what was to become the unique Lladro style.
