The Gallery's Perspective
There is an immediate, private tenderness in the way the mother holds the child close to her chest—both protective and quietly awed. The mother’s dark hair and thoughtful blue eyes are softly framed by a pale veil, while the infant’s round head and wide gaze press gently against her, creating a small, intimate world between them. A muted palette of deep blues, warm flesh tones and soft creams gives the scene a hushed, late-night feeling; subtle highlights on the faces and folds of fabric draw attention to the closeness and the trust between the two figures. The rocky, shadowed background keeps the focus tightly on the pair and suggests a humble setting without distracting from their bond. Overall, the image feels like a still, reverent moment of new responsibility and quiet love—an image that comforts and lingers because of its simple, human certainty.

About Be It Unto Me Gallery Wrap
Be It Unto Me is a painting by Liz Lemon Swindle. This painting depicts Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms. In her own words, Liz Lemon Swindle described this painting as follows: I remember a moment after the birth of my first child when everyone had left and I was alone with my son for the first time. I looked at him lying on the bed and realized I was responsible for this new life. How could I teach him everything he needed? I was terrified. I held him close and the two of us cried. Those were tears of fear and tears of joy, but most of all they were tears of love. Looking into his little face that day I made promises to my Father that I have tried very hard to keep. Was it different for Mary on that night in Bethlehem? Like any first-time mother she must have felt all the fear, all the joy, and all of the love that comes with a child. This painting reminds me that we are never alone when we look heavenward. Liz Lemon Swindle is a world renowned Christian artist. Her work of art entitled Be It Unto Me is sure to bring peace, calm, and joy into your life.
