Wrigley Field, 2016

A gentle evening hush settles over this Paris street, and the scene feels immediately friendly — the kind of place where you might pause for coffee and watch the city breathe. Kondakova has arranged a compact, theatrical view: a rounded corner restaurant with teal doors and a striped awning anchors the right, while a row of warmly lit shopfronts and shuttered windows recede into the left. The painting’s palette balances deep midnight blue sky with warm shoplight ambers and jewel-like storefront colors, creating a comforting contrast between night and human activity. Small details — stacked café chairs, tiny tables topped with glasses, window displays and potted greenery — give the composition a lived-in charm and invite the imagination to fill gentle stories of late-evening conversation. Overall, the image feels convivial and calm; its light and color make the city’s sociable rhythm tangible without hurry, perfect for someone who loves scenes that combine intimacy and leisurely urban life.
