The Gallery's Perspective
There’s a small, theatrical moment frozen here: Mickey, in his sorcerer’s robe, holds the hat out before him as if offering a spark of possibility. The painting’s brisk, painterly strokes and saturated colors give the scene a warm, nostalgic glow — the red robe and deep blue hat pop against a moody greenish background. You can almost feel the motion in the brushwork, the way the folds of fabric and the sweep of the floor are suggested rather than tightly rendered, which lends the image an affectionate, storybook quality. Familiar and playful, the figure’s posture and the little white star on the hat call back to Fantasia’s magic without being literal about a specific frame. About the Collection
Jim Salvati is a contemporary figurative artist and visual concept designer renowned for his work in the entertainment industry. His expertise as a cinematic artist has led him to contribute to major projects, including creating finished paintings for the Harry Potter film series. As part of the Disney Fine Art program, Salvati's oil paintings capture the essence of storytelling through rich textures and layered compositions. Beyond his professional work, he imparts his knowledge as an instructor at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. Residing in Southern California, Salvati continues to influence the art world with his distinctive style and dedication to narrative art.

Born and raised in southern California Jim grew up surrounded by art and architects. His southern California influence is prevalent in his work. The Ocean, Surfing and the movie studios are a major part in his life and career. Jim has worked with most of the Movie and animation studios in southern California and continues to work with Disney and Warner Bros. on a regular basis. He has been painting and designing for the entertainment and advertising business for over two decades. But beyond his excellent artistic skills, his greatest talent lies in his artistic skills. His talent as an artist is being able to take ideas and thematically bring it to visual reality. He has been associated with artists devoted to this kind of acumen ability.
As a byproduct of his years as an instructor at the prestigious Art Center College of Design (since 1985) he has a strong connection to artistic diversity as well as a careful observation of the changing world of art and how art interrelates with technology. His experience and knowledge cross many boundaries into Print, Film, Animation, and the fine arts.
His extensive client list includes Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Paramount pictures, Queen Mary, Radio City Music Hall, Castle Theater, Fox Pictures, and Gotcha Sportswear. His Palette of oils has inspired him to create a new look that has energized his love of the old painters with the combination of the great Walt Disney Studios.
