The Gallery's Perspective
There’s a quiet tenderness in the way the head tilts back and the eyes are softly closed — a moment that reads like an inward breath. Felix Mas uses warm, sunlit tones and a velvety treatment of skin to create a feeling of ease and gentle repose. The hair, painted in deep, simmering reds, flows outward and almost becomes atmosphere, while the delicate, translucent ruff around the neck scatters tiny, luminous marks that feel like caught light or whispered ornament. Against a patterned band of muted checkerboard above, the figure floats within a glowing field of gold and ochre, giving the composition both intimacy and a sense of suspended stillness. It’s a piece that soothes: the colors and soft edges encourage a contemplative calm, like holding a private, quiet memory close to the chest.

Spanish Artist Felix Mas uses his paintbrush to convey emotion. It is his gift. It is our good fortune. He considers himself a traditionalist, obsessed with form and color, creating images that celebrate femininity and luminous beauty of the female form.
Born in Barcelona, he trained at both the Artes y Oficios and the Escuela Superior de San Jorge, then furthered his artistic education with extensive travels throughout Europe and the United States, eventually returning to his native Barcelona to work.
