Dinner for Two, 2000
$395.00
A small world of gentle surprise, this lithograph places an unexpected cavity at the center of a quiet landscape and lets it become a window to another horizon. The scalloped brown form reads like the interior of a walnut shell, its textured edges framing a calm seascape of pale sky and distant blue water. Around that central aperture, soft greens and clustered trees suggest a sunlit meadow; the contrast between the intimate, sculptural brown shell and the open, airy view through it creates a pleasing sense of scale and curiosity. The image feels both playful and contemplative — familiar objects shifted into a subtly uncanny arrangement so the ordinary becomes memorable. The delicate, hand-signed impression and the small format encourage close viewing, rewarding a quiet moment of discovery and a gentle smile at the artist’s imaginative juxtaposition.
The Artwork
"Walnut" is a lithograph created by Fanny Brennan in 2000. From the edition of 300, the artwork is initialed 'FMB' lower right and annotated lower left. The image size is 2 x 2.5" and the artwork is framed in a contemporary silver and dark gray frame. The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each of Brennan's prints is a compact world of real and imaginary elements, playful and ambiguous, though completely enjoyable. "My intention is to depart entirely from the the customary view of miniature painting," notes the artist. "I do not paint mementos. Rather, by placing familiar objects in unfamiliar settings, I try to produce an image that will be remembered for its own sake." This work is published by Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts, an affiliate of Martin Lawrence Galleries, no prior ownership.
