Animator Models or "maquettes" created for Disney's fourth a nimated feature included Dumbo with Mrs. Jumbo as well as Timothy Mouse. The vintage maquette reproduced for this edition is in a pose inspired by an early four-page chapter of the story treatment for Dumbo entitled "A Mouse's Diary". Drawings and storyboard sketches of this abandoned segment were recently discovered and reassembled within the Walt Disney Archives. The name "Ray Disney" on the pencil in Timothy's hand refers to one of Walt's older brothers Raymond, an insurance sales man. These figurines proved to be so popular that Walt Disney occasionally used them as gifts for YIPs as well as decor in studio offices..
