The painting was inspired by a poem that my mother had written, describing the precious gift that children are and the weight of the responsibility that she felt for the care and upbringing of my siblings and me. In helping to raise my own children, I am only beginning to appreciate the love and sacrifices that my parents made. So, in a way, this painting is a tribute to my own mother, and to all who lovingly care for children.
I hope that the imagery has many timeless and positive meanings for people. To me, Seed of Faith represents a tender, teaching moment when a mother's loving patience has paid off, and the child's young heart is ready for learning. It is then that a precious seed may be planted.
