Intimacy from Thomas Blackshear's Original Art Work."The Intimacy painting has two sides to it," Thomas explains. "On one side, the woman held several masks near her face symbols of the bland or false masks that people wear when they go into the world to socialize or do business." The right side of the woman’s face revealed her beautiful glaze, a beam of light radiating from her body, and a beautiful flower garden representing what Thomas calls, "the true color of her real self."

Notes:

Ne’Qwa, in the Mandarin language, is the term for this centuries-old artistic tradition of reverse painting on the inside of glass. This technique creates a brilliance and luster that is not attainable with standard painting methods. Through a small opening in each ornament, the artist uses delicate brush strokes to hand-paint on the inside of mouth-blown glass. From outlining to shading to color application, all work is painstakingly done in freehand.
