| Artist Bio: At age 31, after a typical night of alcohol and drug usage, I had an epiphany. My life, at this point, was filled with disappointments, downfalls, and impending disaster. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks that I had no plan, no purpose, and no direction for success or happiness. I was extremely disappointed with myself and a poor example to others.
Through a series of miraculous events, I was led to a local church where, for the first time in my life, I really heard the answer that I had unconsciously been looking for. I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus Christ. During the next few months of intensive Bible study, I came to realize that I did, in fact, have a purpose for living that went beyond my own selfish and destructive desires.
As the old self destructive patterns of my life dropped away, they were replaced by an intense desire to recapture my "first love" of drawing and painting. Thus began my career as an artist.
I've been painting professionally for 24 years as a self employed illustrator and artist, and even though I've had no formal training in art, God has blessed me to be able to make a living "doing what I love".
For the first 16 years I did freelance illustration for advertising agencies across the nation. As a master airbrush artist, I was hired to do product and technical illustration for companies to enhance their product appeal with the buying public. I did work for many major corporations including, but not limited to; the American Heart Association, Exxon Corp., Georgia-Pacific Railroad, the Houston Rockets, and The Wortham Center, to name a few. In 1998, I made the decision to change my mode of painting from illustration to fine art using the traditional style of painting with brushes instead of the airbrush. I must say that I find this mode of painting to be much more satisfying and expressive. My focus now is on creating art that expresses my interpretation of the beauty of life in all of its possibilities. I hope you like my work and if you decide to purchase something, I pray that the essence of Leonard Freeman as it resides in my paintings will bless you and your living environment.
