| Artist Bio: Born and raised in Colorado, Jim Tschetter was taught early in life to respect the outdoors and its wildlife. Hunting, trapping, packing and fishing in primitive areas of Southwestern Colorado filled his early years and developed his unique capacity to overlook the hardships and enjoy a lifestyle reminiscent of the late 1800’s.
Jim graduated from SCU with a degree in parks and recreation and spent the next several years working as a helitack foreman for the Department of Interior before returning to the backcountry as an elk-hunting guide. It was during this time that he would discover his gift of painting.
Drawing on his intimate knowledge of fighting forest fires, Tschetter painted “Legacy” specifically to enter the 2001 Arts for the Parks competition and was awarded first place winner.
Known as a wildlife-western artist, Jim uses themes depicting the unique relationship between man and nature. His careful attention to detail and his personal observations convey an inherent authenticity that captures the moment, atmosphere, humor, and emotions of each situation.
Since his first attempt at artwork in 1985, Jim has quickly become recognized among many American and international collectors. A Jim Tschetter painting will bring its audience the opportunity to enjoy a way of life which is slowly disappearing from our modern world.
