In the late seventies and eighties, Mark designed and illustrated posters and record covers for an independent record label called Exit Records in Sacramento. He also produced and directed animated commercials for various local companies. Using prototype software he was among the first to produce computer animated commercials in California's capital. He joined the crew of "An American Tale" as a layout artist and continued on "Land Before Time," moving with the production crew to Dublin Ireland. Mark started the computer animation division on "All Dogs go to Heaven" and became the studios first computer animation director and one of the first in the industry. Also directing on the studios subsequent feature "Rock-A-Doodle."
